Picking Weeds
Have you ever picked weeds from your lawn, your garden, or maybe even the sidewalk?
Why?
Well, the most common reason would be that you want to get rid of all those unwanted weeds to make room for fruits and vegetables in your garden, maintain healthy looking grass, or clean sidewalks. This past week after weeding my own garden in preparation for summer, a new season, the Lord presented me with a wonderful parable. I was down on my knees in the hot sun, pulling weeds big and small. The big ones had roots deep down in the soil, these took much longer to get out than the little ones. Though the little ones were much more abundant and easier to miss.
As I knelt in the dirt, God revealed that He does something very similar night and day, in every season, and in places filled with much more filth and weeds. Our lives. The Lord is weeding out the unwanted from our lives, to make room for fruit to grow. We’re not talking about tomatoes (yes, they are a fruit!) or strawberries. We’re talking about the fruits of the Spirit. He’s clearing space for vines blossoming with love, stems of bursting with joy and goodness, and flowers releasing the sweet scent of peace, surrounded by a sturdy fence of self-control.
God is cultivating fruit in Your life, don’t be afraid to ask how you can help.
Blessings.
